Developing Conversation Skills in Learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder
This presentation will review procedures for developing conversational skills in learners with ASD and identify pre-requisite skills for teaching conversation.
Participants will:
- Identify target skills for teaching conversation
- Describe the procedures to ask questions in a conversation
- Describe the procedures to make comments in a conversation
- Describe the procedure to engage in appropriate nonverbal behaviour during conversations (e.g. eye contact, personal space, staying still etc.)
These workshops are designed for those who are implementing skill acquisition programming and have a basic understanding of Skinner’s Analysis of Verbal Behaviour. Educators, BCBA, BCaBA, RBT as well as parents may benefit from these workshops.
