Topic: Early Social Responding and Higher Social Cognition: A Behaviour Analysis and Sequence of Skills
The two-day workshop will focus on derived procedures to establish early social responding and higher social cognition skills such as Inferential Thinking, Perspective-Taking, and Problem-Solving in children with autism.
Day 1 will focus on early social responding which includes establishing eye contact, initiating and responding to joint attention, play skills, and language skills within the context of joint activity routines. Attendees will learn how to increase social and verbal responding under the relevant social antecedents and for the purpose of contacting social reinforcement.
Day 2 will focus on higher social cognition skills related to private events; including Theory of Mind, inferencing, perspective-taking, and problem-solving skills. Attendees will learn how to move a child from tacting public events to private events, to predict and explain the behaviour of others, and to engage in problem-solving, both academically and in daily life.
The conference is designed for those who: have or are pursuing BCBA/BCaBA/RBT; teachers, therapists, and those whose role uses ABA to design & implement programming to decrease behaviors and increase skill acquisition of individuals with autism.

About Francesca
Dr. Francesca degli Espinosa, is a Behaviour Analyst and Psychologist (Ph.D., BCBA-D, CPsychol.) with more than twenty years of experience designing behavioural and educational intervention programs for children and young adults with autism. Francesca’s main areas of expertise include teaching verbal behaviour, management of challenging behaviour, and staff and parent training.
